Fowl
A woman and her family moved to the country to live on a farm. Among the many animals on the farm were ducks, chicken, and three pairs of geese.
The woman explained to her two daughters that geese mate for life.
Unfortunately, one goose died.
The girls were heartbroken. "Now what's going to happen, Mom?" they asked. "She's going to be single!"
No problem. The goose took up with a duck.
Then the goose laid a nice big egg. She warmed it and turned it, but nothing happened. She wouldn't leave it, no matter how much the kids coaxed. She was determined to be a mother. Since goose eggs usually hatch in 30 days, after 45 days, they all began to worry.
The girls then had the bright idea to give the goose some eggs from their very prolific banty hen. 21 days later, they hatched.
Mother goose was delighted with her new brood, never noticing that they didn't bear even the slightest resemblance to her, even down to their lack of webbed feet. A short time later, Mama Goose did what comes naturally and headed to the pond for a swim. Her brood devotedly followed Mom into the water.
Only problem is, chickens can't swim.
Splash, splash, sink, sink.
As Mama goose honked frantically and swam in circles around her rapidly sinking kids, the woman rescued the baby chicks from the water and set them on dry land. Undaunted, one immediately tried to head back to the pond again.
